From the recordings Burning Lullabies and Hotel Suite
As Charlie tries to settle into this new branch of his life living on tour, he finds that is all too familiar, as something he has done most of his childhood moving all around the world. He finds himself going from homelessness into this new chapter of staying in nice hotels and townhomes from venues to find things all too familiar. After a while, he begins to find that he wakes up in these places he once dreamed of, but he wakes up alone each time. As Charlie tries to overwork himself to push his career forward and to avoid his feelings the aspect that the tours, the music, and all of it started not because of music itself, but for Charlie coping with the loss of the life he thought he had with his ex-girlfriend. As the song progresses, we learn that this happens again, and again , and again and again and it becomes more and more unavoidable that something is missing in Charlie’s life.
Lyrics
Don't get too comfortable
It's damn near time to go
Nice but not livable
Off to the next town the next show
You've got a couple of hours
To get caught up on sleep
Nothing like waking up alone
In your Hotel Suite
Oh it ain't nothing
No it ain't nothing
Oh it ain't nothing
Like living the dream
And waking up alone in your Hotel Suite
Waking up alone in your Hotel Suite
Putting miles on the tour van
Living Putting Myself Through
But I'm only singing these songs
Because it's all that I've got left of you
Oh it ain't nothing
Oh it ain't nothing
Oh it ain't nothing
Like living the dream
Waking up alone in your Hotel Suite
Waking up alone in your Hotel Suite
Waking up alone in your Hotel Suite
Waking up alone in your Hotel Suite
Waking up alone in your Hotel Suite
