The folk and bluegrass roots in the song are transparent as Charlie tries to have this conversation with the girl. His emotions are easy to see with lines like " Feel free to change my mind, go ahead and try" Skip Goodbye is his most classic portrayal of americana music in this album that tends to push the boundaries of the genre.
